For 12 weeks, we’ll focus on building your endurance and sharpening your pace to conquer that steady 9:00 min/mile rhythm for 13.1 miles. With built-in rest and flex days, this plan offers the perfect balance to keep you progressing without burnout.

The best part? You can start training today! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A goal race picked out (motivation is key!)
  • A base mileage of 15-20 miles per week
  • The ability to comfortably complete a 5-mile long run

Building up your mileage? No problem! We’ll follow the safe and effective 10% rule. This means gradually increasing your weekly distance by no more than 10% compared to the previous week. It’s a fantastic way to prevent injuries and keep your body happy throughout training.

Example of 10% Rule

Week 1 – 10 miles total

Week 2 – 10 miles plus (10% of 10) = 11 miles

Week 3 – 11 miles plus (10% of 11) = 12.1 miles

Week 4 – 12.1 miles plus (10% of 12.1) = 13.3 miles

Pro Tip: Find a friend. Having a running partner(s) makes training easier, more enjoyable and helps motivate you.
