A Coaching Legacy
My education in coaching began at age six, on long runs with my father. He was the third man on Concord’s legendary 1963 state championship cross country team and later a coach who led his basketball teams to several state titles. For years, those runs were my classroom. He’d talk training theory, break down race strategy, and share what he’d learned from mentoring thousands of athletes over his career.
When he passed recently, he left me with one defining principle that shapes everything I do: Teach, don’t tell.
That philosophy runs through every workout I design, every conversation I have with an athlete. I’m not here to bark orders. My athletes rarely hear me raise my voice. I’m here to build understanding, to help you become your own best coach.
A Different Lens on Running
Twenty-five years as a Chief Information Officer has taught me to dissect complex systems, interpret data patterns, and build frameworks that scale. I bring that same analytical rigor to training design.
This isn’t armchair theory. I’ve lived the endurance grind firsthand: grinding through the multiple NYC Marathons, tackling century rides in the White Mountains, and facing that moment at mile 20 when the plan collides with reality. I know what it takes because I’ve been there.
